twofour54 creative lab to support Taghreedat with Arabic e-content projects including Wikipedia and Web 2.0 Dictionary encouraging Arabs to think and use social media in Arabic.
Twofour54 creative lab, part of twofour54 ibtikar, the funding and support arm of the regions leading media and entertainment hub, is supporting Taghreedat, a major Arabic e-content community building initiative, currently ranked the fourth most influential Arabic brand on Twitter.
The agreement will see twofour54 creative lab provide support and strategic council to Taghreedat to help the brand develop a road map and pursue several new projects in the digital realm, following its highly successful grass roots Twitter Arabisation Project carried out last year. New projects include Arabic Wikipedia collaborations, which will create a strong, diverse Arabic Wikipedia community globally and increase Arabic Wikipedia entries, as well as contribute to Wikipedias “WikiQuote” project, the largest Arabic Motivational Quotes Repository.
With the support of twofour54 creative lab, Taghreedat will also be working on its biggest contribution to date; the first Arabic Tech/Web 2.0 Dictionary, a project which will bring together a solid, unified dictionary of Arabic tech terms.
With Arabic web content accounting for less than 2% of the total web content, twofour54 and Taghreedat share a mutual commitment to developing Arabic e-content across multiple platforms.
H.E Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54 explained; “With Arabic web content accounting for less than 2% of the total web content, twofour54 and Taghreedat share a mutual commitment to developing Arabic e-content across multiple platforms. These projects serve to encourage Arabic speaking media professionals to play their own role in developing a sustainable and commercial media and entertainment industry for Abu Dhabi and the region.”
Drawing on the support of Taghreedats volunteer community of 2,500 Arabic linguists, technical translators and enthusiasts residing in 28 countries globally, the projects will use innovative crowdsourcing and community collaboration techniques to carry out the e-content plans.
Sami Mustafa Mubarak, co-founder of Taghreedat commented; “Working with twofour54 gives us access to key digital content stakeholders across the region. Importantly, it also gives us the opportunity to expand and execute our plans with the right balance of support and autonomy to create sustainable Arabic e-content projects that get Arabs thinking, tweeting and using social media in Arabic.”
Through twofour54 ibtikar, creative lab offers growth and nurturing opportunities to individuals and creative projects in the MENA region that have the potential to grow and participate in Arabic content creation, whether in music, gaming, digital film or other media and entertainment sectors, with a focus is bringing creative ideas to life, through strategic support, training and funding.
twofour54’s vision is to enable the development of world class Arabic media and entertainment content and to position Abu Dhabi as a regional centre of excellence in content creation across all media disciplines.
