UK-based Twickenham Film Group has announced the creation of a Middle East-backed investment arm titled Oasis Film Fund that is aimed at encouraging the creation of more Arabic content.
The US $313 fund is aimed at encouraging Middle East investors keen to involve themselves within the booming British film industry, according to a statement released by the group.
The fund aims to work with established movie stars while also attempting to scout for new talent in acting, writing and directing from both the UK and the Middle East.
One of the first of the productions to be funded by the investment arm is Saladin starring George Clooney. Saladin tells the story of a 12th century warrior king and his heroic fight against Richard the Lionheart in the Third Crusade.
Preliminary plans suggest that the film will be shot in both the Middle East as well as in the UK.
