Yahoo! Maktoob, a Middle East online portal, has partnered with regional video streaming company Istikana to provide new and classical Arabic TV series online during Ramadan.
Visitors to Yahoo! Maktoob will be able to watch episodes of the latest Ramadan series such as Al Da3iya online alongside their television transmission, or on catch-up if an episode has been missed.
“We are very excited to partner with Istikana, to provide our audience with a rich viewing experience during Ramadan and beyond,” said Christos Mastoras, director of business development, Yahoo! Maktoob.
“Online video viewership is growing at incredible rates in the region, and part of people’s daily habits, so we are focused on providing Yahoo! Maktoob audiences with the best possible offering of premium and exclusive video experience.”
Users will also be able to click through to the Istikana Plus service that provides subscription-based access to the entire Istikana content library.
Samer Abdin, CEO, Istikana added: “We are thrilled to partner with the region’s leading online destination to bring regional viewers what they want most, which is premium video content that they can watch with flexibility and at their own time. Ramadan is an especially important period for series and video content and we’re excited to be extending this experience through the Yahoo! Maktoob platform.”
The new partnership will run through Ramadan and continue afterwards, the two companies said in a statement.
