IPX-100 product availability is scheduled for Q1 2025.
Ikegami has announced the launch of its latest addition to its broadcast-quality production equipment lineup, the IPX-100 mini base station. The world-first reveal is scheduled to take place at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam, from September 13-16. This IP-oriented unit is designed to operate as a self-contained solution, offering broadcasters a versatile and efficient tool for IP-based production workflows.
Gisbert Hochguertel, Ikegami Europe Product Specialist, said: “The IPX-100 is a compact and attractively priced bridge between conventional broadcast and the wider world of ST-2110 infrastructure. Compatible with all cameras in the Ikegami XE and HD series, it offers core features of our established and industry proven BSX-100 base station plus optional SMPTE ST 2110 Media-over-IP support. The new model is one third smaller in size at just 2U high by half 19-inch rack width. ST 2110-22 (JPEG-XS) encoding is available as a software option, an important feature allowing the data rate to adapt to the available IP bandwidth.”
The IPX-100 comes equipped with an integrated signal generator, enabling system configuration even before connecting cameras or other sources. IT specialists can pre-configure the ST-2110 connectivity independently, allowing for easy camera connections on the event day via SMPTE-hybrid fiber cables, supporting extensions up to 3.5 km. Power is supplied directly to the camera head through the IPX-100, making operation seamless compared to traditional fibre-cabled setups.
Serving as a gateway to IP, the IPX-100 converts broadcast signals into ST-2110-compliant signals. An optional 3G/HD-SDI input/output is also available, allowing the unit to function as an SDI-to-IP or IP-to-SDI converter. Additionally, an HD-SDI output enables direct video signal monitoring on-site using a field monitor.
The IPX-100 supports on-location camera control via an Ethernet connection with Ikegami’s OCP-300/-500 controllers, even if a broader IP infrastructure is not yet available. System supervision can be managed through Ikegami’s XE Web View software, and automated setups are possible using NMOS IS-04/IS-05 feeds.
The mini base station supports a wide range of video formats, including UHD, HD and HD-HFR at various frame rates, along with SMPTE standards for redundancy and synchronization. Optional features include JPEG-XS signal streaming, 3D-LUT output for HD simulcasting, 4K upscaling and data trunk outputs.
The IPX-100 will be available in Q1 2025.
