This latest version of the Virtual Tool Set will be on display at IBC 2024
Sony will release the updated version of its Virtual Production Tool Set in winter 2024, introducing new features to boost quality and creativity in virtual production. This tool set includes the Camera and Display Plugin for Unreal Engine and the Colour Calibrator Windows application, both designed to expand creators’ possibilities.
The Camera and Display Plugin enables users to simulate the appearance and functionality of their chosen camera within a virtual environment before actual filming with an LED wall. Version 2.0 of this plugin will expand its support to include new camera models, such as the BURANO, FR7, HDC-3500, HDC-5500 and HDC-F5500, in addition to the existing VENICE digital camera series. It will also integrate with Epic Games’ Unreal VCam, allowing intuitive camera control in virtual spaces using an iPad. A new paid license option, Live Camera Sync, will enable real-time updates of VENICE camera and lens settings in Unreal Engine.
The Colour Calibrator application is designed for creating correction LUTs and calibrating the colour accuracy of LED walls in virtual production. Version 2.0 will support new camera models and include an improved user guide function for easier adjustments. A paid license option will be available for creating correction LUTs.
The updated Virtual Production Tool Set will be showcased at IBC 2024.
