Cinema Akil, the only independent cinema in the UAE, has announced this year’s Summer programmes.
Cinema Akil will kick off the month with a celebration of music and its everlasting impact with the screening of Wattstax and Moonage Daydream between July 4 – 13.
In collaboration with the Goethe Institut in the UAE, Cinema Akil presents Love, Deutschmarks, and Death– a testament to the liveliness of Turkish music in Germany with three special screenings on July 5, 9 and 13.
For the two months of summer, Cinema Akil will be showing 10 films of Martin Scorsese.
With Summer of Classics, viewers can embark on a journey through time with a curated collection of eight films from Lebanon, Senegal, France, India, the US, and Germany from July 23 to September 14.
The films include Who’s That Knocking At My Door, Mean Streets, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Raging Bull and The King of Comedy, among others.
