Globally, IPTV subscribers will increase by 79m between 2021 and 2027 to reach 439m.
The global market will add 19m more pay-TV subscribers across 138 countries between 2021 and 2027 with revenues declining by $25bn over the same period, according to a report titled Global Pay TV Forecasts by Digital TV Research.
The report added that between 2021 and 2027, pay-TV subscribers will grow from 1.011bn to 1.03bn, but with revenues dropping from $161bn to $136bn.
IPTV will add 79m subscribers globally between 2021 and 2027 to take its total to 439m.
Revenues will decline in 70 of the 138 countries between 2021 and 2027, with the US market losing the most ($19bn).
Global satellite TV revenues are predicted to drop by $14bn, with a digital cable down by $10bn. The analogue cable will lose $1bn while IPTV will grow slightly.
Commenting on the finding of the report, Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “Between 2021 and 2027, 86 countries will add pay-TV subs and 52 countries will lose subscribers. Most of the countries gaining pay-TV subscribers are developing nations, with low ARPUs. The US will be the biggest loser – down by 12m subscribers.”
