VoD service Iflix and Econet Medias Kwese have expanded their partnership in Sub-Saharan Africa. Kwese has acquired a significant stake in Iflix Africa, which will now form part of Kweses broadcast offering. The operating partnership will see Iflix drive Kweses go-to-market mobile delivery in each of its territories.
Having set up operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa, Iflix offers African viewers a range of local and international series and movies, including exclusive programming. Reportedly uptake has been low as compared to rivals Showmax and Netflix. This partnership will help iflix leverage Kwese’s local knowledge and expertise.
This, in partnership with Kweses broadcast operations and footprint, will create a significant offering for consumers on the continent, the companies said.
Kwese is available in thirteen countries with its pay-TV service and claims the largest pan-African free-to-air broadcast network with Kwese Free Sport in more than 25 countries.
