With this grant award, MAD demonstrates its mission to assist Arab filmmakers at various stages of production, both internationally and regionally.
MAD Solutions has announced that it will present a grant award to a feature-length film or documentary that is currently in production at the 11th Final Cut in Venice, amidst its engagement at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
The Final Cut in Venice is a three-day event scheduled to take place from September 3 to 5 on the Venice Lido. This programme will showcase seven chosen film projects from the MENA region to potential investors, distributors, post-production companies, and film festival curators. These projects stand a chance to secure funding that will aid in their completion and eventual release.
In this iteration, MAD Solutions will present its grant award for the ninth time. The award encompasses $10,000 MG designated for marketing, publicity, and distribution of a feature film endeavour, or $3,000 MG for a documentary initiative.
Past beneficiaries of the MAD Award at the Venice event include Under the Fig Trees by Erige Sehiri, which made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and secured the EcoProd Jury Award. Additionally, MICA by Ismael Ferrouki, which graced the screens at Cinemania Francophone, El Gouna, and Angoulême Francophone film festivals, and Obscure by Soudade Kaadan, presented at the Copenhagen Documentary and Fribourg international film festivals, were also honoured.
MAD’s grant award underscores the organisation’s overarching mission to provide support for Arab films across various production stages, both on the international and regional fronts. The award seeks to bolster these projects and extend promotional efforts in the long term.
