Shahid has acquired the series for MENA territories, and Dubai Media secured the rights for its free TV channels, Dubai TV, and Dubai One.
MBC Group and Dubai Media have secured the rights for the Spanish drama series Boundless from German distributor ZDF Studios. The six-episode series, each with a duration of 45 minutes, is set to be featured on MBC’s Shahid streamer in MENA territories, while Dubai Media has secured the rights for its free TV channels Dubai TV and Dubai One.
With a total budget of $21m, Boundless narrates the historical tale of the first circumnavigation of the Earth, undertaken 500 years ago by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
Previously, the series found distribution agreements with MTVA (Hungary), YLE (Finland), LRT (Lithuania), GSN Global Series Network (Australia and New Zealand), VIVA (Philippines), ERR (Estonia), Mediasquad (Balkans), and Eleven Entertainment (South Korea).
Directed by Oscar-nominee Simon West, known for Hollywood hits like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie, and international blockbusters such as Con Air and The General’s Daughter, Boundless is produced by Spain’s Mono Films in collaboration with Fulwell 73 Productions. The series is a joint venture for Spain’s RTVE and Amazon Prime Video, in association with EiTB, Canal Sur, Aytmo de Madrid, and with participation from ZDF Studios.
