MIPTV, the leading international content market and showcase for television and digital entertainment, is set up to shape the future of communications networking as it provides unique opportunities for business executives, creative producers and top talents in TV, film, digital, media and advertising, production and distribution industries to connect, meet up, join efforts and take their business to the next level.
The events 49th edition that will be held in Cannes (France) from 1-4 April 2012, is expected to host more than 11,000 decision makers from more than 100 countries according to Ted Baracos, director market development at MIPTV.
He added that the largest platform for the TV world is expanding its scope to provide digital and mobile providers and advertisers from all over the world with unique opportunities to be exposed to the latest developments in creating, producing, licensing, financing, distributing state-of-the-art content across all platforms.
Bassil Hajjar, Middle East Representative, MIPTV said: “The event represents a unique opportunity for Arab producers, film makers and advertising brands in the region to meet up the worlds key decision-makers in these industries and take advantage of the latest breakthroughs, discover future trends and trade content rights on a global level and make use of the opportunities to distribute their programmes in different parts of the world.”
He expected that 10 to 12 Arabic countries will be participating in the event and mentioned that the UAE is among the top Arab participants in terms of number of organisations followed by Lebanon, Qatar and the rest will come gradually.
The participating organisations include Emirates Media Group and Twofour54 from the U.A.E., MBC Group from KSA, Al Jazeera net from Qatar and others. The 2012 edition will have a special focus on digital innovation and distribution, fiction screenings and co-productions, kids animation and live action, branded entertainment and 3DTV.
Key speakers include Josh Sapan, President and CEO, AMC Networks Inc., who will deliver a Media Mastermind keynote address on the value of original programming and how to create entertainment brands of distinction in an increasingly competitive world. Jonathan Mildenhall, Vice President Global Advertising Strategy and Content Excellence for The Coca-Cola Company, will highlight key strategies to create compelling content that engages audiences in new and innovative ways and builds emotional connections across multiple consumer touch points.
