After the success of its first Technology Day in Dubai last month, Rohde and Schwarz is organising its second Technology Day in Doha on November 17, 2016 at City Centre Rotana. The seminar titled Scene to Screen will be conducted by David Smith, Chief Technologist Broadcast & Media at Rohde and Schwarz.
The seminar will look at how the changes in the broadcast industry are driven by the desire to deliver the highest possible picture quality coupled with the need to deliver immersive content to as many viewers as possible.
The full-day event will take place from 8:30 am till 6 pm and will cover topics such as resolution revolution, 4K demo, codecs: the next generation, IP crowd and screen savors.
It will be of particular interest to satellite, terrestrial and IP broadcasters looking to gain a better understanding of the commercial opportunities and technical issues arising from the deployment of IP-based studios, file-based workflows, and software-based encoding and multiplexing systems.
The first session will be a talk on UHD, HDR and the key elements for better picture quality which requires higher resolutions, high dynamic range, higher frame rates to name a few.
The next session will be about codecs and how the next generation codecs can be applied to production, contribution and distribution.
The following session will be about IP and its advantages and how to maximise the availability of valuable content across all display platforms at minimum cost.
The final session will examine how viewers currently expect to consume content and the potential to attract new viewers through social media. Smith will also speak about virtual reality and 3D and their future outcomes.
