"Chicago Street" goes back and forth between two different time periods reflecting the pros and cons of Syrian society via a love story.
As part of its ongoing strategy, Zee Entertainment’s Arabic Video-On-Demand streaming platform Weyyak has announced its first original content production for Ramadan called Chicago Street.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Syria on January 30. Syrian production house Kaband Media has been contracted to undertake the production.
The protagonist of the series Sulaf Fawakherji plays the role of a free-spirited and blind lady named Miramar who runs away from her family to follow her dreams. She meets Murad with whom a new love story filled with hope, risks and love begins. Murad is played by Mahyar Kaddour.
Commenting on the new series, Nadine Samra, Chief Business Officer, Weyyak, said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of our first Arabic Original production. Chicago Street has a well-drafted script. The stars were picked according to each of the role needs. We trust Kaband Media to be the right production house for our project. Ramadan is a tough season when broadcasters and VOD players fight for eyeballs. Our content and user experience are crafted to keep our users happy and engaged.”
