Nevion’s Virtuoso will be on display at the NAB Show in the Networked Live area of Sony’s booth.
Nevion has introduced the Virtuoso UplinX, a 100G uplink add-on to its renowned Nevion Virtuoso software-defined media node. As the newest member of the Virtuoso family, Virtuoso UplinX is engineered to aggregate IP streams from up to eight Virtuoso appliances, offering a highly scalable and cost-effective solution to 100G interfacing.
A component of Sony’s Networked Live offering, Nevion Virtuoso has been extensively deployed worldwide for real-time transport, processing, and monitoring of signals. With the rising adoption of IP technology in live production, the demand for 100G interfaces has surged. This capability is especially crucial as backend processing, including video encoding/decoding and AV processing, increasingly migrates to centralised server farms in data centres. Moreover, for remote production, 100G often serves as a necessary interface to the wide-area network (WAN) on-site.
The Virtuoso UplinX add-on delivers multiple 100G uplink (and downlink) interfaces to the network, offering options of 2, 4, or 8 interfaces tailored to specific deployment needs. A single Virtuoso UplinX can manage up to 192 uncompressed HD and 48 uncompressed UHD video signals in each direction, while also facilitating a potential transition to a 400G interface when required. It seamlessly handles red and blue networks within one unit or separately across different units, with configuration and management conveniently accessible via Virtuoso’s established web interface, providing a unified view of the aggregated appliances.
Offering greater cost-effectiveness compared to in-appliance interfaces or dedicated IP switches, Virtuoso UplinX empowers customers to transition to 100G and eventually 400G interfaces without the need to upgrade their Virtuoso appliances or disrupt existing configurations.
Steve Hard, VP of Product Management, Virtuoso at Nevion said: “Virtuoso UplinX is a very powerful add-on to the Virtuoso family, complementing the Virtuoso MI and the Virtuoso RE. It offers a versatile, high-scalable, and, most importantly, cost-effective solution to the needs for 100G interfacing now, and 400G in the future.”
Nevion’s Virtuoso will be showcased at the NAB 2024 Show in Las Vegas from April 14 to April 17, in the Networked Live area of Sony’s booth.
