Dubai-based distributor United Broadcast and Media Solutions (UBMS) held a DJI Ronin workshop last week at the UBMS Training Academy in Garhoud, Dubai. The three-hour session was conducted by UBMSs in-house DJI specialists to introduce the three-axis, handheld camera gimbal to the attendees.
The hands-on workshop hosted 18 industry professionals to have an up, close and personal experience with the gimbal system. The attendees were introduced to the gimbals ability to stabilize automatically in different scenarios to give them a practical overview of the system.
While the Ronin is suitable for a payload of up to 7.3 kg, its smaller and lighter version the Ronin M also offers auto stabilizing capabilities for cameras of up to 4kg. The attendees got to try both the stabilizers during the workshop. The stabilizers can be used with cameras ranging from the RED Epic, Sony FS700 to the Canon C500 and the Blackmagic Production Camera as well as the Canon 5Ds.
Commenting on the session, Peter Kyriakos, Head of Marketing at UBMS, said: The interactive workshop explained in detail how the Ronin works and what it is capable of. It was a well-attended workshop with a wide range of professionals. It was a free-of-charge workshop and our way of reaching out to industry professionals to give a better knowledge of the tools available to them.
We had a good mix of professionals at the workshop including cinematographers, DoPs, camera operators, cameramen, TV channel professionals and technology directors.
The stabiliser was assembled piece by piece during the workshop and then put to use. The iOS app was also demonstrated at the workshop. The app is used to configure the specs of the Ronin. It can manage the pan, tilt and set up various modes of the stabilizer.
