As part of its official launch, V-Nova Studios will present two immersive content productions on September 1, 2024, during the Venice Film Festival.
V-Nova, a technology company specialising in advanced data compression and immersive XR experiences, has introduced its new business unit, V-Nova Studios, to support the next wave of transformation in the entertainment industry.
With the XR gaming market exceeding $7bn annually in 2023 and continuing to grow, there is a clear demand for immersive experiences. However, while gaming has flourished, other entertainment sectors such as cinema, television and music have struggled to tap into XR revenue streams due to technical limitations, often leading to poor quality and viewer discomfort.
V-Nova has addressed these challenges with its Lumiere V-Nova PresenZ format, designed to transform storytelling. This format utilises traditional CG and special effects pipelines to deliver cinematic-grade, motion-sickness-free, 6-Degrees-of-Freedom (6DoF) XR experiences. This innovation is expected to unlock a multi-billion-dollar market among current XR users and pave the way for XR’s mainstream adoption in entertainment, ushering in a new era of narrative media.
To support this vision, V-Nova Studios will focus on three key objectives: creating immersive storytelling with cinematic 6DoF XR, launching original productions that showcase the capabilities of the PresenZ format and assisting both major studios and independent creators in adopting and optimising the format to produce visually engaging XR content.
As part of its launch, V-Nova Studios will debut two immersive content productions on September 1 at the Venice Film Festival, following a panel discussion on the future of immersive cinema and music, titled “Immersive Futures in Cinema, Video, and Music.”
The event will be moderated by Valentina Martelli, Founder and CEO of Good Girls Planet, and will feature speakers including Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova; Gianluca Meardi, General Manager of V-Nova Studios; Guido Gallo Fabris, Director and Producer; Carlo Rodomonti, Head of Strategic Marketing and Digital at Rai Cinema and Vice President of the Union of Digital Publishers and Creators (Anica); and Jacopo Chessa, Director of Veneto Film Commission.
Demos of the new content will be available at Villa degli Autori from 14:30 to 17:30. The content, created with Lenovo and NVIDIA technology, was rendered on Lenovo workstations and servers and will be showcased exclusively on NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs.
Speaking about the launch, Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of V-Nova Studios with two brand-new immersive experiences only possible with our V-Nova PresenZ format. V-Nova’s commitment to game-changing digital innovation ranges from enhancing traditional video to accelerating Generative AI to enabling new immersive formats. With V-Nova PresenZ, we are not only pushing the technical boundaries of XR, but also pioneering a new era in visual storytelling, unlocking this new market for consumers and creators alike.”
