The IMAX launch at Yas Mall aligns with the regional release of 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'.
Vox Cinemas, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment, has launched a newly upgraded IMAX auditorium at Yas Mall.
The advanced IMAX auditorium introduces the biggest screen at Yas Mall, measuring 23.2 metres wide, with a floor-to-ceiling viewing format designed to fully immerse audiences. Powered by IMAX with Laser projection, the auditorium delivers ultra-bright visuals, enhanced contrast and lifelike colour accuracy, complemented by a 12-channel immersive sound system with ceiling, rear and surround speakers. Glider and recliner seating across the auditorium further elevates comfort, setting a new benchmark for cinematic quality in the capital.
The launch underscores Vox Cinemas’ long-standing strategy of investing in cutting-edge formats across the Middle East. With 15 IMAX locations spanning seven countries and more than 4,100 seats, the exhibitor continues to scale one of the world’s most advanced cinema platforms for regional audiences.
The reopening of the IMAX auditorium coincides with the regional release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, giving moviegoers the opportunity to experience one of the year’s most anticipated titles on an epic visual and audio scale.

The IMAX with Laser system is also designed with long-term performance and energy efficiency in mind, reflecting IMAX’s focus on precision engineering and sustainability. Films shown in the upgraded auditorium undergo IMAX’s proprietary DMR process, ensuring each title is remastered for maximum clarity and impact in line with filmmakers’ creative intent.
The IMAX upgrade forms part of a wider refurbishment of Vox Cinemas at Yas Mall. As part of the transformation, 11 standard screens have been converted to Premier auditoriums with modern glider and recliner seating, while the existing MAX screen has also been enhanced. The cinema’s luxury THEATRE concept is being expanded, and the former 4DX auditorium will be remodelled into an additional THEATRE screen, adding 36 premium seats. Refreshed foyers, common areas and Candy Bars are also planned, creating one of the most luxurious and seamless cinema destinations in the region.
