BeIN Media Group, which runs the beIN Sports Network has acquired Turkish pay-TV network Digiturk.
Digiturk, which has broadcasting rights for Turkey’s top soccer league until the end of the 2016-2017 season, is 53% owned by Turkey’s Cukurova Holding and 47% owned by US private equity group Providence Equity Partners.
Financial details of the sale have not been disclosed but local media estimated that it was between $1bn and $1.5bn. The deal remains subject to approval from regulatory bodies.
