King Abdulaziz University has announced the second edition of its Student Film Festival, scheduled to take place from December 4 to 5 at King Faisal Hall for Conferences, according to a report by Saudi Press Agency.
The event is designed to promote student creativity in filmmaking, furthering Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the film industry.
Ayman Naji Bajunaid, dean of the College of Communication and Media, highlighted that this year’s enhanced festival aims to create a cultural and artistic platform that nurtures talent from universities across Saudi Arabia. The festival seeks to strengthen collaboration among students and foster connections between academic filmmakers and industry producers. It also serves as a way to celebrate and deepen Saudi cultural identity.
Bajunaid explained that the festival’s goals align with Saudi Vision 2030 and the strategic objectives of the Saudi Film Commission by enhancing students’ filmmaking skills and encouraging partnerships between filmmakers and producers. Additionally, the event will stimulate both academic and cultural engagement within the film sector.
Unlike last year’s edition, which was exclusive to King Abdulaziz University students, this year’s festival has been expanded to welcome participation from students of universities nationwide. The expansion is aimed at motivating a broader pool of talented students, creating a vibrant and competitive environment that fosters creative expression.
