The annual festival has been rescheduled to October next year for the safety of guests and audiences due to Covid-19.
The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF) has been postponed until next year.
To protect public safety during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, SIFF organisers FUNN announced that the eighth edition of the film festival will now take place in October 2021.
Commenting on the delay, Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN and SIFF, said: “While our mission is to stimulate and promote the artistic skills of our young generations through SIFF and other events we organise, it is our responsibility to provide a safe environment for our viewers and guests during this global crisis.
“We stand in solidarity with the victims of Covid-19 and those who are fighting the disease, and our main consideration now is the safety and well-being of our target groups, global visitors, staff and the wider UAE community.”
SIFF was first launched in 2013. It is a project of FUNN, an organisation established by the Sharjah government. The festival aims to enhance the media literacy of children and youth, foster children’s & youth’s creativity and showcase the very best in filmmaking for, by and about children and young people.
