WBD will stream the shows in Iberia, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Benelux and the Nordics, while CBS Reality will air them in the Middle East, Africa and Romania.
BossaNova Media, a prominent content creation, funding and distribution company, has announced sales for two new series produced by Los Angeles-based Stampede, known for its long-running franchise, Borderforce USA.
The deals were facilitated by BossaNova Media’s Head of Sales, Tatiana Grinkevich.
The series, Seized at Sea (12 x 60 mins) and Airport Security: USA (12 x 60 mins), have been acquired by Warner Bros. Discovery for streaming platforms and linear networks across multiple regions, including Iberia, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Benelux and the Nordic territories, as well as by CBS Reality for the Middle East, Africa and Romania.
Additionally, Hearst Networks EMEA (formerly A+E Networks EMEA) has secured the rights for both series in the UK. Furthermore, Airport Security: USA, set to deliver in Q3 2024, has been licensed by WELT for Germany and German-speaking countries.
Seized at Sea continues the formula of Stampede’s Borderforce USA, which debuted in May 2023 on the Discovery Channel. This new series focuses on the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) efforts to combat smuggling and trafficking, showcasing the operations of three two-person CBP teams based in Puerto Rico, New Orleans and Houston. Together, these crews patrol approximately 1,600 miles of coastline known for drug and human trafficking, presenting both thrilling drug busts and the personal stories of the officers involved.
Meanwhile, Airport Security: USA shifts the focus to land operations, highlighting the daily challenges faced by border security agents at four major US airports. With around 2m travellers screened daily by approximately 40,000 officers, this 12-part series examines the post-pandemic landscape at airports like Los Angeles International (LAX), Harry Reid in Las Vegas, Austin’s Bergstrom and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, the latter serving as North America’s primary international gateway.
Speaking about the deals, Tatiana Grinkevich said: “If ever there was a safe bet in terms of pleasing audiences of all cultures, creeds and demographics, it’s these latest offerings from Stampede. In subject matter, pace and structure, both Seized at Sea and Airport Security: USA are based on the fail-safe formulas pioneered by Borderforce USA, whose episodes weave together multiple stories, some heartbreaking, some horrifying but all compelling. I predict that many more broadcasters and platforms will follow Discovery, CBS Reality and WELT’s lead and buy into these sure-fire hits from a production company at the top of its game.”
