Helmed by Ihsen Kammoun, the film features a star-studded Tunisian cast.
Ihsan Kammoun’s Tunisian short Road to El Kef screened at the fourth edition of the Manarat Mediterranean Film Festival, which runs until July 29 in Tunisia.
The film was shot in the Tunisian city of El Kef and delves into extremely intricate family issues, drawing attention to fragmented families whose members have fragile relationships, and how the children of these families can be easy targets for terrorist groups and organisations.
The film — which premiered at the Carthage Film Festival, won the Best Foreign Short Film award at the Alameda International Film Festival, and was nominated for the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival — is headlined by Tunisian actor Ahmed Hafiane and Fares Landoulsi alongside a star-studded Tunisian cast that includes Malek Ben Saad, Sawsen Maalej, and Alaa Edine Yacoubi.
Road to El Kef participated in several other international festivals, including the Festival Les Nuits Méditerranéennes, Vancouver, Arab, Montecatini, Dearborn, Molodist Kyiv, and Rabat international film festivals.
The movie is helmed and produced by Kammoun, with the screenplay crafted by Charles Hall. Anis Kriaa serves as a co-producer, while Karabila Productions and Eqlae Pictures LLC contribute significantly to the production. The film is shot by Frida Marzouk, edited by Laith Al-Majali, and features music composed by Suad Bushnaq. Meanwhile, MAD Solutions is responsible for distributing the film in the Arab world.
